Guess who’s popcorn grew big, strong and is almost ready to harvest? That’s right! Juniper’s garden is poppin’! Pun very much intended. With most of the hard work behind her, she’s excited for the kernels to fully dry so she can get snacking.
It was way more fun growing popcorn than you thought, right, Juniper? “Right!”
Until you think it’s ready to harvest, try keeping it on the stalk as long as you can. You can also bring it inside to dry, too. Remember, BOOMCHICKAPOP is not a fan of the frost, so if your region of the country is seeing frosty nights, bring it inside to finish drying. You should also bring it in if you’re having some critter problems. We love our furry friends, but we love our BOOMCHICKAPOP more.
Think your BOOMCHICKAPOP is ready? If the husks on the outside are dry, take a peek inside and make sure the kernels are:
If so, pick off a few kernels and test them on the stovetop with a little bit of sunflower oil. If they pop like popcorn should pop, ding, ding, ding! You’re ready for harvest! If not, don’t worry. Just let them dry on the stalk for another week and then test again. Repeat until you’re ready to bring them all inside.

- something spicy, like chili powder
- garlic and parmesan
